Video courtesy of Ard Ri Entertainments Ltd. 07 March 2008 "Fields of Glory" scores with major new stage show! - Don's powerfully anthemic song, "Fields of Glory", is stirring up passions amongst sports fans, Irish music fans and the nostalgic alike! Performed by the new, all-male, Irish ballad group, THE HIGH KINGS, the song features in their major new stage show that is set for U.S. broadcast on PBS channels this month, followed by a major tour from April. But Don admits that the song isn't all about sport. "It's more about passion and how that grows when whole communities rally around supporting their local teams. I grew up in the little hurling parish of Ahane/Lisnagry where Mick Mackey came from. A small parish with a huge heart and, like it still is now, the spirit of the game was everywhere! Even closer to home, my dad was a selector for the local hurling team and very involved in the sport." From the creators of the chart-topping and arena-filling show, Celtic Woman, The High Kings are described as "bringing their intricate harmonies and driving rhythm to bear on traditional Irish music, infusing it with a refreshing modern sensibility". "Fields of Glory", co-written with Shay Healy, certainly knows all about driving rhythms - it pounds out with timpani and bodrans set against a huge video backdrop of Irish farmland and climactic sports footage.
